Calvin Ridley releases statement on absence

Ridley was inactive for the Falcons' week seven game against the Carolina Panthers.

ATLANTA — Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley was inactive for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers for personal reasons. Ridley released a statement on Twitter on his absence.

"I need to step away from football at this time and focus on my mental wellbeing," the statement reads. "This will help me be the best version of myself now and in the future."

Ridley also missed the Falcons game against the New York Jets in London for personal reasons.
